James Scholars... ? scholarship

My son recieved a letter naming him James Scholar and to the Honors program… he is an OOS , is there any schloarship monies attached to this award?

Was he accepted to an honors program separate from the James Scholar program? If so, then there’s a good chance there’s a scholarship included; however, I do not believe the James Scholar program itself has any scholarship included.

I also received it as well, but it does not include any scholarship (at least for now).

My son recieved a lot of mail from schools. he showed me somthing about Illinois paraprasing " honors program and your were in the top 10% of all applicants to the for the fall term and it was seperate from the James Scholarship letter. which was from the school of LAS. I do not go through his plie of debris in his room. … ahem papers so I do not recall. Anyway does this sounds like the honors program seperate from the James scholar… He got so many honors wards rom all the schools he applied to , so now he just shrugs it off.

James scholars have no financial award attached to the scholarship though there are definite benefits such as early registration. Many James scholars do receive some kind of another award though.

Not sure what that is. The James Scholar is an honors program, each college has a James Scholar program and for A&S it is usually top 10% for a cut-off so that letter may be referring to it. It does not itself carry any scholarship money. There also some department honors program and some money may be available there (but often it is no more than $1,000 for the year). There is also Campus Honors but top 10% is way below its usual cut-off, which is usually around top 2%. There is partial scholarship for that group, for OOS I believe it is usually waiver of the out-of-state portion of tuition.
