I hardly ever go to concerts anymore but this is one I would make a point to see.

Just got an e-mail - "We have great news! Due to outstanding ticket sales, a second date has been added for the Hollywood Bowl which will be May 15th, 2010. Thanks to everyone who helped us reach enough ticket sales to add the additional concert date! "

oh goodie …

Thanks so much for the heads up on this! The year that “Tapestry” came out I spent the whole summer at home from college laid up with a broken leg. One of my dad’s friends owned the local record store and sent me the album as a get well gift. I must have listened to it hundreds of times, and still remember every lyric. We saw sweet baby James in concert in a relatively small venue about a dozen years ago, and it was a transporting experience. Most of the audience was of the expected age group and waves of nostalgia just kept washing over the crowd—more than a few of us were teary eyed for much of the concert. I only hope the tour comes near my home, though I’d travel pretty far for this duo.

Coincidentally, I just finished reading “Girls Like Us” this past weekend and I agree that it’s a terrific read. I’ve been a CK/JM/CS fan since the early 70s (Tapestry was the very first album that I bought for myself, back in '72 when I was 11. ) and there was so much new information and background about all three women that I learned from this book that I hadn’t known.

Right after I finished the book, I looked up Carole King’s website and came across the heads-up about her and JT’s upcoming concert tour. I signed up for the email list and really hope that they schedule a date in the Philadelphia area!

Hoping there’s a Tampa date…
Willing to spend the (undoubtedly) big bucks.

My James Taylor experience goes back to the spring of 1970 at an upstate SUNY college-hanging out on a glorious day… a van pulls out, a guy with a guitar gets out and says to the assembled group,… Hi my name is James Taylor and I’d like to see you all a few songs…
a few months later… sames James Taylor has his first album and …

In high school in Queens, NY a friend told us that her math tutor and a friend were soon to release an album…easy to remember his name- Art Garfunkel and his friend Paul Simon and “The Sounds of Silence”… he was a good math tutor also, by the way.

D was playing Millworker on the i-phone on the way home from the airport tonight. …and it’s me and my machine for the rest of the morning, for the rest of the afternoon, for the rest of my life…Maybe they’ll play Memphis.

There’s a lesser known musical called ‘Working’ that has the Millworker song in it. Luckily, when our high school did it, it was my daughter who was cast in that role. Everytime I’d hear her sing it, I’d cry. If I just look at it on tape now, I still cry. A beautiful song!

Can’t be that “lesser known”, can it? I mean, even I know about it. But I like Studs Turkel, too. EmmyLou Harris does a great cover.

…today I work the mill for as long as I am able, and never meet the man whose name is on the label…

(She followed that up with Jeff Buckley’s Hallelujah , a truly tormented version I had never heard. The kid’s got taste. ;))

Just got an email today showing concert dates all over the country. There is bound to be one in your neck of the woods!! It looks like the dates are not list yet on the website, so unless you are signed up for the emails, I don’t think you can view the dates.

I saw JT in concert last summer. He was GREAT.

I see the dates! http://links.mkt2259.com/servlet/MailView?ms=Mjg0MDA4MwS2&r=MTg5NTMzODY5NjAS1&j=ODIwNTYyNTQS1&mt=1&rt=0
June 10th in Philly Looks like they are doing LOTS of one night concerts.

Hmmm. Now I’m torn. All the venues are gigantic, and I just don’t see these rather intimate performers as well suited to a giant arena experience, where the sound quality is so poor and you have to watch the jumbotron to see anything. I’d have to see them at the Madison Square Garden venue–ick. Guess I got spoiled seeing JT at a much smaller hall. Maybe I’ll just wait for the inevitable concert video.

omg. I am soooo excited! tickets go onsale soon!

Thanks for showing the link; I didn’t sign in when I went to look for it, maybe that is why I could not see it.

I wonder how much the tickets will be? Do I take the kids or should this be a date night for hubby and I?

In Columbus they are $128, $88, and $58 (or something like that - the $128 stuck in my head b/c we want to take our girls but 4 tickets at $128? Not going to happen.) That said I am ecstatic that not only are they coming to Columbus, but both my girls will be home that weekend. I am one happy mama right now :D

My 16 year old was just telling me how she liked James Taylor when we were looking at I tunes. I have seen JT and LT anumber of times but not in a while. My friend said Caole King will be at Tanglewood July 4th I would expect JT to be there.

As much as I’d love to see them perform together, I have zero interest in sitting in a huge venue with thousands and thousands of others. MommaJ, I’m with you on this.
