Jan28 SAT ESSAY ISSUE TIME SENSITIVE

The PROMPT was :
“does progress or improvement usually involve setbacks or a significant problem?”

My THESIS:
Improvement does involve problems in that from major setbacks and problems, one is able to re-assess and execute properly to adapt and improve for the better of a future.
(setbacks->improvement)

Examples:
I talked about how setbacks Russia sustained during WW1 turned the society into a poverty stricken land with destroyed economy, WHICH allowed Lenin to gain popularity and form Marxist regime, bringing relief and economic equality with his NEP and disintegration of social stratification. (setback->improvement for society)

AND: I talked about how despite Pip in Great Expectations advanced through the social hierarchy, he faced a personal crisis of wealthiness (setback), which enabled him to adapt and IMPROVE his identity for the future. (setback-> improvement for personal growth)

HOWEVER few people have been criticizing me saying that I WROTE OFF TOPIC, and should have been talking about how (improvement->setback). People review the original prompt and my examples and update me on your opinions whether this essay is valid. (I used up all 2 pages of the essay)

THIS IS A TIME SENSITIVE ISSUE BECAUSE IF MAJORITY BELIEVES MY ESSAY IS NOT VALID AND TOO OFF-TOPIC I HAVE TO CANCEL IT IN 2 DAYS.

PLEASE HELP! I"VE BEEN DYING THESE LAST COUPLE OF HOURS :(

I think your essay is fine. I don’t even think it is off topic. The topic says “Does progress or improvement involve setbacks”. You answered this question by showing how setbacks lead to progress.So the progress is a result of a setback… that qualifies as “involvement”.

@gthopeful93

Yeah! Thats’ what I felt too. Cause the prompt was a bit ambiguous with “involve”
However some people are stating that involving means CAUSE as in improvement CAUSES setbacks, which I did not address…

Any other opinions? I really need to decide whether or not this is off topic in which case I need to cancel scores IMMEDIATELY.
