<p>I’ve heard that Jane Eaglen is leaving BWU at the end of the school year to join the voice faculty at NEC.This comes after a similar departure in 2010 from the University of Washington. While I understand that teachers are free to go where they want, it seems that some do so with little regard for their students. BWU created the Wagner Intensive summer program around her and several students moved themselves and their families to Ohio at her urging to study in her private studio- and she took on a bunch of undergrads this year too. She will be leaving other kids in her studio as “stranded seniors”, which is an awful and disruptive situation.
This is why I urge kids to select a school that has a good program and where they think they will be happy regardless- you can ask all of the proper questions of prospective teachers but you still can’t predict what will happen during the next few years…</p>
