January 2013 SAT I CR (Japanese Rice, and others)

For the oil and water one, I put a fraction because I did it in the reverse (like 1:6 ratio would be how many oil to 40 water = 20/3). I was thinking that technically you can have a fraction of a gallon…would this be considered wrong?

edit: nvm pmartin did the same thing

probably around a 750 no?

The first math section was difficult. D:

@jansatomg what I would do to get a 730…

@imsteven I did not find it that difficult to be honest. Although I ran out of time on the last question so I omitted it.

Jansatomg, since when is 730 a bad score? The average score is less than 520.
The other sections don’t seem to be curved as bad as math, though. I missed two questions in my critical reading PSAT as well, and I got a 770 on that.

Do you guys remember any Cold War passage answers?

Guys, the one with the parabola was a=1. I took the time to plot it. When I first eyeballed it, I thought it was a>1 because it was really steep. But I plotted it and it was a=1. The graph was (1) x^2 + 4x +3. It passed through the points (-3,0), (-2,-1), and (-1,0).

For the passage about rice what did u guys think “rich” meant?

The last Cold War question about the new school was A (I think?), something about the war being the fault of the United States.

And for one of the questions I put that the answer was something about compromising American ideals.

Rich meant wealthy, I think.

Oh yeah I got that it was antithetical or something??
Yay I got wealthy too.

@pmartin35 I think you can just keep practicing…
@halcyinheather I agree… But the situation for me is, I’m a international student, and I’m not a English native speaker. So I’m not good at CR, so far the part that could help me the most is Math…

How many numbers less than 20 are a multiple of 2 prime numbers?

i got antithetical

@hardvardgirl…I didn’t see that one at all. Could it have been experimental?

@jansatomg if I was ever going to get 700+ it would be today. As of right now I’m at 2 wrong (1 grid wrong) and 2 omitted. And the parabola one is scaring me. I forget what I put down.

Was he quoting an authority or justifying a practice

@Hardvardgirl, that would be p+2.greater than 2, you can say 3. And 3+2 is 5, which is another prime number

^ Justifying a practice!
