January 2013 SAT I CR (Japanese Rice, and others)

yeah @aklvkk 3 no error is what ive seen most people say. but… i never got a chance to check my own answers… bleh

@champ

capitalism, I believe (was that an answer choice?)

@bhchamp i said it was evidence supporting a position. something like that

What was the answer to that question about brown rice… i put merriment instead of embarrassment. Did anyone else?
also, i thought it was cheerful instead of eagerness. if you looked at the previous sentence, it had the word “blissful” in it and blissful is closer to cheerful than it is to eagerness.

embarrassment and eagerness

in writing, for the kid’s essay, the question that was like what is the best way to reproduce the sentence… I can’t remember it but choices were like :

A. Something nevertheless something (Stay same)
B. Something inevitably something
C. Something for example something

I can’t remember more context unfortunately but I said inevitably

actually never mind champ, sorry it is supporting a position. I put an answer for the wrong question.

the brown rice would be embarrassment. He pretended to laugh along when his family rejected it, and you could tell that it was kind of forced.

It was eagerness because she was anticipating and excited at the thought of meeting the seahorses rather than merely cheerful.

@aklvkk and @glasses1 I can’t even remember the choices lol was hoping if someone said them it’d ring a bell… i just remember wrestling with that one. anyone remember the other choices?

I said for example.

Because it was talking about how some people rejected technology, and so they were still using typewriters and did not watch television (or something like that).

@aklvkk yes that was the context (thank you)…I said inevitably because I felt like if they’re not using modern tech then they unavoidably (inevitably) end up using typewriters and such. I don’t know, for example was the other answer choice I considered.

anyone remember the best concluding sentence ? or the gist of it

As stated before, this is for CRITICAL READING, NOT Writing or Math! Look at the title of this post BEFORE posting!

dog. chill out. you seem to be the only one who actually cares. its just good to have a place where we can discuss everything.

Heya.

There was a IE sentence similar to, “Us competition judges had difficulty in selecting the winners for this year’s award”.

“Us” was underlined and I circled it.

yeah, this seems to be the most active thread for this SAT.

concluding sentence… it rings a bell but I can’t quite :(

it was one of the upper ones I think (A-B/C)

I’m slowly losing my sense of self-confidence/self-worth… LOL

Perhaps being an obdurate, dogmatic outsider would have satisfied me more than the truth.

Anyhow, I think we need more context for the for example/inevitable thing. Sorry, I can’t quite remember what the author was saying before/after the sentence.

@AkLvKk: what were your three no errors?

One was the painter trained at some place.
Another was the “adequately preserved.”
What was the third?

space I think that’s for experimental. I don’t remember having that.

but wouldn’t it be “awards” because you would have plural “winners” that correspond to “awards”? I don’t know this is just a guess. I don’t see anything wrong with “us” though.

My curiosity is getting the best of me.

Desperados, I had four no-errors, but I got one no-error wrong, so according to my estimation it should be 3.

I put no error for the sentence correction. Everything seemed parallel and in place.

i know but what were your three?
what are you talking about when you refer to the sentence correction?

oops sorry o^O misread it. I’m not sure.

The sentence correction, wasn’t it a possible issue with parallelism? No error as in “A”
