January 2013 SAT I CR (Japanese Rice, and others)

@mpgh

the father was justifying a custom (forget the word, sorry).

I was oscillating between making an accusation and justification, but justification it is (or at least appears to be so).

so consensus for seahorse as a disclosure rather than a justification and the drama as a collision of customs, right?

sorry for making a big deal out of this.

Shouldn’t the answer be something like quality something?
Right before the quote, it says the father didn’t find the comment about the rice being burnt as funny.

Debauchery was actually the antonym of the right answer. The correct answer was temperance, or self-restraint in action.

dont worry about it aklvkk. it’ll be around 770 i think b/c usually the first 2 or 3 off can still be an 800, 4 if its lenient, but this one clearly isnt

Answer is temperance. It was the first question so it shouldn’t have been that hard…

father was justifying practice, consensus that it was disclosure not justification

thank you glasses :)

I always seem to have a problem with the inference questions. And you were very right to point out I was reading it too superficially.

Do you guys remember an underlined writing question that was like “an otter reclining on a log” or something like that?

Does anyone else think the writing was quite difficult? I usually get 1~2 wrong but tbh, I don’t know how I did on writing. I feel like I got 4~6 wrong…

Sorry I made a thread but no one is checking it… " I was wondering if I should cancel today’s SAT test (January.) On my last SATs (December) i got 780 for math and today I totally scrubbed the math…idk why (ugh) like 3-5 wrong. My writing and reading scores may go up a tiny bit but idk. Will colleges think that my first math score was just luck? Should I cancel my today’s score? (FYI I don’t plan on ever exercising score choice and idk what colleges I’m applying to yet so idk if they superscore or not)" Thanks!

I just realized that my 4 no-errors should be a 3.

I put the “___ had their back toward the audience” as no error. I didn’t realize “back” was not plural. I must be blind -___-

I thought the supposedly “difficult” find the errors were extremely easy and the medium questions harder than normal…

they’ll understand that your score wont always be consistent. it’s unrealistic to expect that someone will consistently score within a certain range of scores, so i doubt they’ll think it was just “luck”… if your other sections might go up but your math go down then you should be on track to do as well as the time you took the sat in january. perhaps you might do even better than that! who knows. as long as you dont do too much worse than the first time, i dont think you should cancel.

@aklvkk was that in the experimental section…? section 4 or 5?

@mpgh000 yeah its usually a breeze for me but this was not so much… we’ll see though.

@coffeeplease, yeah it was as regal as any cheetah or lion, or whatever not “that of,” or anything because they’re essentially just comparing animal to animal

@glasses

it wasn’t in the experimental. I had a grid-in for experimental (yay!) but still did pretty bad.

Apparently it had a plural noun so “back” wasn’t supposed to be singular, so it should have been “backs”. I completely overlooked that one.

Taking that into account, grammar seems to have 3 no-errors. I have a friend saying he had 1 no-error, but I’m pretty sure that’s not it.

After tons of practice test and QAS tests I’ve taken, there is usually 3 no errors and at MOST 4 no errors but never 1 or 2.

yes LOL

does anyone know if the March SAT is usually harder or easier?

what did people say the “demand for markets and resources” (or something like that) was a reference for in cold war passage 2?
