January 2013 SAT I CR (Japanese Rice, and others)

wow adissadddd. I seem to have really gotten lucky on this test! I feel like it was 2n+1, but I could’ve misread it. Regardless, it seems like most people put n+2 anyway. Oh and sorry about the repeats…

-partisan…bias
-temperance
-acerbic…affrontery
-egregious
-intransigent…volatile

The Actor Short Passage
-outright condemnation
-limiting because it could be shown in different ways
-Practicing alot will acheive the emotions quality crap.

Can’t quite remember wat the two short passages were about.

And on writing I’m Pretty sure I got 3 no errors:
one i know was the adequately preserved one.

I had two grid ins so I knew one of the math section wam experimental. Did anyone get a question with a cubical tank with sides of 10 and then it filed up a couple of cubic inches per second ?

Also did anyone get a question where it was like (x-k)(some quadratic) and they asked what k could be ?

@aardvark The problems you’re talking about are experimental.

what was teh question for new perspective?

Was the egregious question the one that also had execrable as an option?

^ No, egregious was along with obsequious, ineluctable, etc. Execrable was in another question, and that was the correct answer.

Thank you. Haha, I thought those two were together and that would have been it for my 800 in CR.

Anyone know the difference between a 9 and a 11-12 essay?

I got a 9 in December. Was expecting 8, since my third example was complete crap and my conclusion was really rushed. All in all, that essay was pretty bad.
I think I did a lot better on this one; I had 3 solid examples and an actual conclusion. Do you guys think I could get an 11-12? I’m expecting a 10 at least.
What would 7 wrong (expecting dumb mistakes) and a 10 essay be?
-7 and a 11 essay?

Anyone remember the third to last grid in? Or was that the train one?

For architect passage, I got inherent quality or something like that.
Also, intersperse was one of the answers for sentence completio part.
The Actor Short Passage was harderst, at least I believe.
Outspoken condemnation is defintely right answers. However, I am not so sure about other answers though. I though one of the answers was script is essential or something like that.
I dont remember anything about lmiting because it could be shown in different ways and practicing alot will acheive the emotions quality crap.
What were the questions? Also do you remember any of the other answer choices? I cannot recall…

@daveeed
120 is answer for the train question. 5 permutation 5 =120

haha, new here. Had a quick question-- for the organic molecules critical reading passage. what was the answer to the last question? One of the answers was “incorrect name used nevertheless”, and another was “synthetic carbon doesn’t form the same bonds”? Thanks!

we are sure it was “Lacking”?

@youngperson i thought it was “doesn’t form the same bonds” and for a good reason but others are saying “inaccurate yet used nevertheless”

@diddly123 I said the same thing! I thought that the point of the passage was that it WAS accurate to call them organic… Ugh, that was so confusing.

^Wait I chose an answer that was like “conventionally used by inaccurate…”

Same^ …

wasn’t the one about microscope/rotifer and the pencil an experimental CR section?

also, does anyone remember the vocab “archetype” in any of the reading sections? i dont remember whether it was in the experimental or not… (cuz i had 4 CR sections).

@youngperson @diddly123

i’m pretty sure the answer was what you put. the author of that passage only said that the new synthetic compounds were still called “organic” even if they weren’t technically natural or “organic,” however he never mentioned anything that commented on the accuracy of this categorization. so i shyed away from that answer and instead put what was more clearly an implication and not an outright statement, that these synthetic compounds could form bonds that natural ones couldn’t (or whatever it was)

@tomato

I also got “conventionally used but inaccurate” for the carbon passage…

Yeah, it was definitely “inaccurate but used out of convention” or something like that.

Whatever these rotifer/microscope or pencil sections were, they were experimental.

Yes, we’re sure it was “lacking”… look up “wanting” in the dictionary and you’ll see.

In the acting passage, one of the answers was something about “you can attain those fickle emotions through lots of practice”.

@daveed: We can’t tell you what you got without knowing what your essay was actually like. Expect the worst and pray for the best, buddy.
