January 2013 SAT I CR (Japanese Rice, and others)

@Fizz you didn’t have one about the dancing school?

Hey guys, around how many can I get wrong (from all sections) to still get a 2000?

^ As a long passage? No. I did have that hugely disputed short one regarding the guy and his outright condemnation/guarded skepticism.

So was the writing question with “Throughout her career she worked to protect by law, something something, and adequately renovate.” no error? or was it nonparallel?

Ok yea Fizz that’s what I was talking about… Hmmm. I can’t remember my other one… I wonder what it was?

Oh and does anyone have the answer to the prime number math question?

^It was no error. I asked my mom who’s a writer and she said it was parallel structure and that’s how she would write it too

Mak, the math question’s answer was n plus 2

Hell yea aaronk! That’s what I put, but I’m confused though… because 13+2=15 which isn’t prime…

I believe the question was could be true, which would mean 3 plus 2 works, 5 plus 2 works, 9 plus 2 works, etc

It said COULD not must.^

And that’s what was tripping me up ^. but couldn’t 2n+1 work as well for 3?

well it could, but if you used 7 (let’s say), then that would be 15, which isn’t prime

yea i agree with you diddly. The problem is if you use 7 for n+2, then that =9. That was a bad question I think.

What was the one on the short passage about acting… Limited, or problematic??

I think I answered problematic but I’m not sure.

Can anyone who had an experimental CR section say some of the questions? I KNOW I had it, but I can’t for the life of me remember what it was…

I remember a pair of passages about oral history that my friends didn’t have. the 1st was about how if you obtain enough of them, you can blend them into a mosaic and a rich cultural text. The 2nd passage was about interviewing DJs. in vocab there was also the word “puerile” for which i had no idea. I think that was experimental

Thanks rizikin… I didn’t have that one… Oh! one more thing. Does anyone know the answer to the math questions about the math and academic team? There was 9 on the math team, 10 on the academic team and 11 on both I think. Anyone remember that?

It sounds like some experimental CRs also had passages about literature and groups (friends or something). I myself had an experimental Writing section, though.

Makaveli16, are you sure the option for math wasn’t 2(n+1) rather than 2n+1? I feel like I would’ve been really thrown off by that question if one of the choices was 2n+1 and one was n+2, and, well, I wasn’t really thrown off by the question.

Yes, the answer to that one was 4 (number of people in both the academic and the math teams). But haha, a lot of the questions being asked now are the ones that have been answered several times throughout this thread. I understand it’s a pretty long thread to read though :P
