<p>wesleyan has a very very good japanese department and it offers language courses as well as japanese studies courses. a lot of people choose to go abroad for 1 sem to 1 yr in japan and there are tons of going abroad opportunities. most applicants get into very competitive programs with (a bit ridiculously) generous financial aid/scholarships.</p>
