i honestly don’t know if they even take the survey into consideration at all, because my roommie and i did not have the same sleeping habits. she was generally an early sleeper (once i came back on a sunday night ~9:30 and she was in bed) and i was a really late sleeper

^lol. was that a problem for you two?

Even though people put down their sleeping preferences, it still doesn’t mean anything a lot of the time… like I had a triple and we were all “late to bed, late to rise” but my roommate had a really early class for two quarters so she woke up and went to sleep super early.

I have another question.
for one of my classes I have a discussion early in the morning. I want to switch discussions mainly because there is a huge downtime after that and I rather have it later in the day after something else.

The thing is the other time is full and there are two on the waitlist for the other discussion time. Is it likely that many will drop from the discussion time? If so how should I go about switching to the other discussion time.

waitlist the class and if a spot opens up it will drop you out of the other one and enroll you in the new one

yes it was a problem between us, as i was always up doing work at night. but she would be on the phone too so i didn’t feel as guilty as i could have felt.

but it is true, your sleeping habits will change depending on your classes. if you usually sleep at 3am, that isn’t going to work well if you’ve got 8am classes every day. so you have to adjust your bedtime in order to get a good night’s sleep.

and i agree w/chargerland, you should WL for the discussion and you can also try to sit in on that discussion the first time (but still go to the one you are enrolled in), and try to do an add card. it kind of depends on if you take quizzes and attendance in the discussions because for those it’d be harder to switch.

Ah I see.

It might be easier if I give the professor an add card right away. That wouldn’t bother them on the first day would it? lol.

Does anyone know how I can change my roommate? I didn’t get the person I requested.

I don’t know if this question has been answered but how is the Greek life on campus? What sororities/ fraternities are top tier?

Check out the top story on this website:

Do you have any specific questions? To be honest, you want to look around during welcome week. Talk to the MANY booths that will be trying to recruit you. Attend the rush events and try to get a bid. Figure out which one you like the best live. If you’re looking to know about a certain frat, ask. To be honest I don’t know much about many frats except for the Asian ones and Alpha Phi Omega.

UCI students, was it difficult to get the classes you wanted this year? I’ve heard the budget cuts are making it harder. Also, did the school limit the number of credits you could take? Overall, I’m wondering how much you are affected by the budget cuts. Thanks!

personally i would say i was not affected this quarter. it was a little bit hard to schedule my classes to fit my schedule since most of them were filled up but i managed.

As you go into your major classes, you won’t have any problems with scheduling. However, keep in mind the freshman class has been drastically reduced in proportion to the budget cuts.

Hello Jason,

I am going to attend UCI next year as a Bio major. I was wondering is it mandatory for me to send in my AP Scores for this UC? You see, in my High School experience, I have taken the AP Exam and pass for: AP World History-3,AP US History-4, AP Biology-3, AP Calculus AB- 4. I really don’t want to send these scores in because I want to start college with a clean slate ( as in I want these credits) I want to start all over again with having zero credit and working my way up.

Thus, my question is:
- Is it mandatory for me to send in my AP scores to UCI?
- If I decided not to send in my scores, will UCI revoke my acceptance letter? (eventhough, I already sent in my SIR)?

2hotinhere:

From a hindsight, it’s definitely mandatory. If you do not verify that your application is indeed correct, then they have a reason to rescind your admissions. It appears as if you are lying that you have those scores. Some schools can take AP test scores into account during admissinos.

Other than that, why do you want to have this clean slate so badly? Those test scores won’t ruin your gpa, nor will it make it better. You are more than welcome to retake a course. If you do in any of those classes that you got a 4+, then you won’t have that grade factored into your GPA (this is what they said to me 3 years ago…although things change).

Having 0 credits coming in puts you at a disadvantage. Registering for classes is based on the number of units you have - in general, more units means an earlier registration window. If your registration window is too late, there won’t be any room in some of the classes you need to take and you may fall behind. In addition, the good professors fill up first so you want to have an early registration window to get the good professors. In short, send your AP scores in.

I stated that I will be taking an AP test… will I be revoked if I cancel my scores? The reason I want to cancel my score is because I know for a fact I didn’t pass it.

I doubt they revoke someone just because they canceled an AP test score… AP test scores aren’t even considered for admission to UC’s, if I remember correctly from my HS senior days…
