I have question about the billing system. What exactly is the current account? My zot account summary has a certain amount of credits there. It says account balance including housing. I’m confused to what this amount is.

hi. Do you need to pay more if you’re taking more units in a quarter? So would I need to pay more if I decide to take 20 units this fall quarter compared to deciding to take 12 units?

And do the deans usually approve your request to take more than the max units in a quarter (20)? I’m trying to take 5 classes (each 4 units) this winter but one class has a lab so altogether it’d be 22 units. Would they approve if I attempt to do the same for several more quarters (because of the labs)?

Jessica1, no you do not pay more for taking more units. You are essentially just paying for ‘full-time status’, which is considered 12 units. So you’re doing yourself a favor in theory by taking more than 12 units.

I do not know about the approval for taking more units, Jason or someone else might have an answer for that.

that’s good to hear. thanks for the reply =]

IIRC in order to take more than 20 units you would have to go through your academic counselor who has to actually get approval from the dean to allow you to take more than 20.

Although taking up to 20 is fine

I have a quick question regarding Anthropology 2A. Can it be used to fulfill both category 3 (Social and Behavioral Sciences) and 8 (Multicultural Studies) at the same time? Thanks guys!

you seriously resurrected this thread from 2007?

Anthro 2A does cover two categories, but I can’t remember which ones at the moment. I believe it was either Categories 3 & 7 or Categories 3 & 8.

People had been asking questions in this thread well after 2007. :P

Thanks @ GamerKingFaiz. Okay, I also have a problem I’m going through right now…

I’m currently a freshmen at UCI really wanting to transfer into nursing. I know it’s competitive, but I KNOW i’ll get in if i kick into gear.

What do you think are the credentials needed to transfer into nursing? (Other than strong personal statements and gpa.)

Let this thread live long and forever. I’m still around once in awhile (: .

adnguyen18: If your GPA is high enough and you complete all the pre-req’s, you’ll be fine.

Usually the department’s counselor makes the decisions. If you make an appointment with them and express your interest in a positive way, you might have an easier chance.

Gotcha. Thanks jas0n! Interesting the department’s counselor is a really good tip!

I will probably make sure that I’m well rounded in hospital hours / experience as well.

Shout out to jas0n, who helped me start my journey with IEEE 4 years ago. As an alumni who just graduated, I wanted to resurrect this thread because there’s a ton of helpful info here that ppl can search for.

Also shout out to GamerKingFaiz, it’s Irvin!
