JC or Arizona?

I just need your opinion on if I should attend a JC or the University of Arizona. The area of tucson is rather depressing imo but the campus is huge and beautiful! The students there are also hot (teehee) and I would get the “college experience” and be able to attend a 4 year. On top of that I get an Ipad scholarship (strange scholarship…).

However, I am thinking of attending a JC so that I can compete in my sport (I am good, but not as good as UA’s team. I was getting recruited by a few top 50-60 schools but my grades ultimately deterred me from admission in the end). That is where I believe a JC can help me. The JC I will be attending is one of the top in the nation and has resources that make transferring easier than most JCs. They have a (team I will be joining) good sports team that always makes it to state championships, nice location, good party/social atmosphere (important to blow off steam), and as an athlete, I would have a separate guidance counselor who I hear is actually a great help, unlike most JC counselors.

My goal is to either a) reapply to the schools I was getting recruited at (They all only require 30 units to transfer) and compete in my sport there.
b) Apply to USC (They allow you to transfer with 30 units as well)
c) Stay 2 years and TAG at a UC and apply for UCLA

While I’m at the JC I would partake in campus activities and really dig in to find what interests me. Maybe I will join theater (never done so in my life) or various other clubs. Perhaps run for student body president? Whatever I do, I will be sure to maintain a 3.8+ GPA and build up my application with “useful activities”.
So in the end, I think this particular JC I will be attending would be a much better choice for my future. Would you agree?

seems like youve already made up your mind ;)

im a bit biased when i say go to a JC, but i also have experience with it.
go to a JC, play your sport for that JC and you’ll get priority registration therefore making classes EASY PEEZY to get. you will have one of the earliest, if not THE earliest, registration dates for classes and you got top pick. ON TOP OF THAT, if you do study body pres, you could get an even EARLIER registration date…

if all else fails, you have the choice to really play with what classes you want to take because you have first pick.

go with a JC, unless you know what u want to major in. many ppl spend the first 2 years figuring out a major and may take classes they dont need. :</p>

I’ve been told that 4-yr college coaches look very favorably upon athlete transfers from a JC because those kids are usually more ready to contribute to the team than an incoming freshman would be.

Thanks for the input, I decided to attend a JC or I may go to my second choice school I am waitlisted at. I will know for sure May 15th.
