JD vs. MBA

I’m a rising senior majoring in Strategic Communication. I want to pursue a career in marketing communications, specifically something that has to do with brand management. I’ve also thought about becoming a sports agent.
Which degree is more beneficial for those career paths in the long run?
And what kind of marketing jobs are suitable for someone with a JD?

apply to kellogg’s jd/mba. 3 yrs and you only have to take the gmat.

I would say an MBA might better fit your interests, but honestly, a JD has a lot of transferable skills, especially in business.

^I have heard bad things about that Kellogg program. I would caution against it.

what makes you say that? i have friends who have come out of the program and only have good things to say about it. and if you know anything about law school, you know that your 3rd year is pretty much a waste of time. basically, it’s 1.5yrs mba (you have to forfeit a summer) and 2yrs jd. if you can deal with the rigor, it is absolutely the best of its kind - given that you have a clear understanding why you want both. that said, it’s not for everyone.

keep in mind that penn is following suit and offering a 3yr jd/mba. if kellogg’s program wasn’t that popular, there’s no way this would’ve happened.

Ususaly joint programs have integrated curriculums and such. I have heard multiple times that the curriculums are very separated, and it is basically cramming the regular amount of time and material into a smaller amount.
