Jeans for daughter help!

I am going broke buying jeans for my daughter that she cannot wear and I need some advice. She is a college freshman, DI athlete, and her body is changing rapidly. She goes to school in Boston, so before she left we bought her several pairs of jeans, several Abercrombie, a Lucky, and a couple of 7 for all Mankind. Unfortunately, none of these jeans fit her anymore. I plan on having the 7’s and other nicer jeans altered when she is home, but in the meantime, she needs jeans. She was home for Thanksgivng and we bought her 2 pairs of jeans at American Eagle, one size smaller than the jeans she took with her. They fit her well in the store, a little tight but she expected them to stretch. But when she wore them, they stretched out so much that she had to go back to the dorm and change. Same thing with a pair from Abercrombie, although those only stretched a lot in the waist, while the American Eagle ones stretched through the legs also. So, any suggestions on reasonably priced jeans that will hold their shape reasonable well when worn? She is 5’10" with large quads, 27 inch waist and 31 inseam with flat shoes. I don’t want to spend hundreds of dollars right now as her body is still adjusting to the knew training regimen and will continue to change through the year. Thanks so much for any suggestions!

I am not sure where you live, but locally we have a number of “upscale” consignment or reuse clothing stores for women. I find all sorts of designer/ name brand clothes as significantly discounted prices in the consignment stores. Also look at places like Marshalls and Ross, they too have name brands at discount prices.

Jeans stretch, it’s just a problem. Unless she is willing to try some of the jeans that will havea little lycra in them (not totally stretch, but a small amount), this will continue to be a problem.

Levi’s outlet.

My daughter is very short, but athletic (think gymnast legs). She likes Hollister for jeans. They’re within her small budget and frequently on sale. They’re still a bit big in the waist for her, but they’re the closest without going with more expensive ones.

If your daughter is in Boston then she has many options. I always encourage my kids to try out different brands even if they weren’t buying to know what fits. Your daughter should do that in Boston. Most major department stores have a whole department dedicated to jeans, and salespeople are generally very helpful. I would only buy few pairs at a time since her body is changing. My kids usually buy jeans with a bit of stretch. If they are big, we put them in the dryer. If they are just right, we usually hang air dry.
