I think a day in jail would be kinda interesting, if you know you get out the next day and nobody is likely to beat you up. Johnny Cash turned a night in jail into a song and enough cred to sing in San Quentin.
The autopsy isn’t going to do anything to quell the masses who think some kind of shenanigans went on. Broken neck that could be suicide or murder. Hmmmm

I didn’t know they give up bodies so soon. In crime shows I watch, they hold onto the body until they solve the crime.
Until an autopsy maybe? Crimes can take a long time to solve, if ever.
IRL, crimes are rarely solved, let alone adjudicated,in 42 minutes.
I believe bodies are released after the ME has determined cause of death.
Well…he left a will he signed 2 days before his death, which, for me, suggests he was contemplating suicide. Everything left to a trust----often done to prevent the names of beneficiaries being made public.
I wonder how much of his money is socked away in Swiss bank accounts, the Cayman Islands, ets.?

I just read he had 3 12 year old girls flown in one year from France for his birthday as a surprise gift for him. Not really caring how or why he died. Hope this thing opens up so others can be be stopped from abusing children.

I often wonder what causes this sick fetish. Is it something that happened to them in their formative years? Or just an inborn characteristic that warps their views of what is attractive? Some kind of subconscious desire to injure, or extreme ideal of “purity”?
Or is it the fact that our culture glorifies the idea of much older men with barely teenage girls in ads, slang, TV shows, movies, songs and art? Are we really so surprised that men with the means to do this and get away with it do so? This isn’t some fringe kink, this is something our society encourages, promotes and then congratulates men for.
It’s been a very recent development that a large number of people are starting to push back and question if this is OK.

Child marriage is legal in a depressing number of US states. I read an article where a 12-year old hoped the judge would help her* and nope, it was legal, her parents had signed for her and he couldn’t stop the marriage. (I think it took place in Florida.)

IMO it’s not cultural. It’s one of two things: 1. Many pedophiles (although not all) were themselves were sexually abused as children (but not all who were sexually abused go on to become pedophiles). 2. There is evidence that some people have an inborn proclivity for sexual attraction to children. This does not seem to be the issue with JE, as his victims were all post-pubescent.

I think he did the deed himself. He wouldn’t have cooperated with the feds. What could they offer him? He knew he was in for life and didn’t want to face it, just like Ariel Castro (the horrible man who had kidnapped and imprisoned girls in Ohio).
Still, Whitey Bulger was killed just a few days after being transferred to a new federal prison, and that was only 6-7 months ago! Jeff Sessions and everyone else were complaining about underfunded and understaffed federal prisons, and that incident seems to have been forgotten. Bulger was wheeled to a spot that the other inmates wasn’t covered by security cameras.
Epstein had a cell where he could see the guard station, and he would have seen them sleeping. He had spent hours in the lawyer’s room with a young female lawyer in the previous days (working on his will?) and had transferred money to the commissary accounts of other prisoners. He was supposed to have a roommate when he was taken off suicide watch, but it hadn’t happened yet. He knew they were lax and took advantage while he could. A coward’s last act, but one that takes power away from us and from his victims.
