Jeromy Miles Named ECAC Rookie of the Year; Miles, Little and Mahoney Named

<p>Jeromy Miles Named ECAC Rookie of the Year; Miles, Little and Mahoney Named First-Team All-East</p>

<p>ANNAPOLIS, Md.-Navy freshman Jeromy Miles (Sicklerville, N.J.) was named the ECAC Rookie of the Year by the head coaches of the Division IA institutions that comprise the ECAC. Players from Army, Navy, Boston College, Buffalo, Connecticut, Duke, East Carolina, Maryland, Penn State, Pitt, Rutgers, Syracuse, Temple, Virginia and West Virginia were eligible for the award. Miles will be honored at the Eastern College Football Awards Banquet at the Pegasus Restaurant at the Meadowlands Sports Complex in East Rutherford, N.J. on Feb. 15.</p>

<p>Miles was also named to the first-team All-East defense along with Keenan Little (Sr./Boiling Spring, N.C.) and David Mahoney (Sr./Fort Myers, Fla.). Junior slot back Reggie Campbell (Sanford, Fla.) was named Honorable Mention All-East.</p>

<p>Miles, who was also named Honorable Mention Freshman All-American by The Sporting News, played in all 12 games for the Midshipmen and started the final 10 contests after Dujuan Price went down with a season ending leg injury. He recorded 55 tackles on the season and came up with a team-high four turnovers (two fumbles and two interceptions).</p>

<p>Little became the first player in Navy history to score a defensive touchdown in both Service Academy games in the same year when he intercepted a pass and returned it 40 yards for a touchdown to seal Navy’s 26-14 victory over Army. Earlier in the year, Little picked up Air Force quarterback Shaun Carney’s fumble and returned it 37 yards for the game’s first score as the Mids went on to beat the Falcons for the fourth-consecutive year, 24-17. Little started all 12 games for the Mids and recorded 49 tackles.</p>

<p>Mahoney stands second all-time on Navy’s career list for tackles for a loss (40) and sacks (20). Mahoney leads the team in tackles for a loss (9.5) and is second in tackles (76) and sacks (6). He has started 42 games in his career, seven more than anybody else on the squad.</p>

<p>Campbell had a standout junior campaign, rushing for 655 yards and five touchdowns on just 86 carries and catching 13 passes for 244 yards and two touchdowns. Campbell is averaging 8.4 yards per carry in his career, the third-best average in school history, and is averaging 22.6 yards per catch in his career, the second-best average in school history.</p>

<p>Navy will play Boston College on Dec. 30 at the Meineke Car Care Bowl in Charlotte, N.C. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. and the game will be televised nationally by ESPN. Bob Socci, Omar Nelson and John Feinstein will call the action for the Navy Radio Network.</p>
