That is the web site of JHU’s post-baccalaureate pre-med program, which is not the same as for regular undergraduates.

After reading even more, I still think OP wants to go to JHU - and since this overlaps with the parents’ desires (and willingness to pay), that seems like the best option!

This is the JHU web-page for regular JHU undergraduates which states admit rates of 85%, but 98% for those with research or internship experience:
The JHU Committee Letter eligibility & requirements appear to be very reasonable based on commonsense and thorough preparation.

If mom comes around to PSU, so be it. But in the mean time, it sounds like you have a blank check with which to work. If that is the case, choose the place that you prefer – which sounds like Hopkins. Confirm again with your mom, though, before making the decision.
