JHU and Duke- Good for anything other than Med?

<p>I know that JHU and Duke are renowned for pre-med and other science/math concentrated majors. But do these schools retain the same level of expertise, opportunities and prestige for humanities majors? </p>

<p>Should I even be considering JHU and Duke for International Relations/Pol.Science/Econ/Language studies?</p>

<p>Definitely consider them and they are top schools, but if you are interested in those fields why not shoot for the other colleges too? </p>

<p>For example, Georgetown SFS and Tufts IR will help fill a lot of what you are looking for. In my opinion, nothing beats Washington D.C.'s location for your field either :)</p>

<p>JHU has an excellent International Studies program as part of their Political Science dept., and you can even do a 5-year BA/MA program with [url=<a href=“http://www.sais-jhu.edu/]SAIS[/url”>http://www.sais-jhu.edu/]SAIS[/url</a>].</p>

<p>I also agree that you should consider both schools. JHU has an excellent engineering department (as does Duke to certain extents). When I visited JHU I was very impressed by all of the departments across the board. They are just great top universities and I am sure you wont be disappointed by either, especially as an undergrad.</p>

<p>JHU and Duke are great for social sciences and humanities. JHU in particular has made a consistent effort to improve humanities. Their social sciences, however, have been tops from the beginning!</p>

<p>I don’t know much about JHU, but Duke is excellent for Econ! And of course, the Duke name does help.</p>

<p>JHU’s international studies (SAIS) is one of the most highly regarded programs in the country (ranked 1-20 depending on organization).</p>
