This just makes me so sad.
Boo. I loved him in Gomer Pyle.
Very sad. He was a wonderful entertainer. I read recently that he had not been well for some time. If I could live to be 87, and still be fairly healthy, physically and mentally, I would be very happy.
Golly - this is a sad day. No only do I remember Gomer Pyle, but how astonishing it was to hear Jim Nabors sing after only knowing him as Gomer.
And combining the two: a clip of Jim as Gomer singing The Impossible Dream.

RIP Jim.
Sad. Another loss from my childhood
He had the most amazing singing voice!!!
I was glad to hear that he had such a loving long term relationship and was able to marry his partner after so many years together.
Always seemed like a nice guy, I I gather that it was the truth.
Back in the late 60s early 70s my step-dad co-owned a nightclub in Santa Monica. Jim Nabors and a host of others were regulars, honing various crafts. For Mr. Nabors it was his stand-up and his singing. My step-dad was in awe of his voice (my mom had been a professional singer in the 50s and 60s - music was, and remains, a huge part of our lives). I got to meet Mr. Nabors when I was 11, he was one of the nicest, kindest people I ever met. He was courteous, and always had a warm greeting. Over the years he gifted my step-dad with several of his albums which played in our home until my mom died in 2005. RIP Mr. Jim Nabors.
