@jgwolf Out-of-state residency and Honors College acceptance are likely two requirements. Other than that, I do not know. My daughter was rejected for Dingledine.
We are OOS. He was also rejected for the Dingledine and his stats are:

4.0 unweighted
Class President, Varsity Athlete, various EC

My son’s application status has recently changed from “deferred” (deferred from EA) to “completed”. Does anyone know why this happened?
i was deffered ea as well, and have the exact same message. all it means is that they have made a decision and the application is complete- its just not available to see yet.

I believe the status change is because they are now officially re-looking at your son’s application against the current wave of applicants.

That happened with my son’s application last year and he was offered admission not long afterwards.
I think since EA came out a month earlier then RD should be earlier as well. Maybe within 2 weeks

based on that the deadline for early action was November 1 and they came out December 15, and the regular decision deadline was January 15 I would expect that it would come out around March 1 (just a guess tho )

I hope they come out with decisions early March so I can decide where I want to go to school earlier and find a roommate lol
My DD20 was accepted EA and committed to JMU this week. Admitted students received an email saying that beginning this year, JMU will allow incoming students to select their dorms and rooms. Dorm selection is prioritized based on the date of deposit and signing the room contract by April 1. Students will then be assigned a date in June-July to select their dorm/room.
Given this new process, I would hope that the Regular Decisions come out earlier in March so that there is enough time to attend Accepted Student days, consider other options and make a deposit for the school of choice.
Prior to this year, dorm/room selection was random other than Honors college or the LLC’s.
Just to clarify - room contracts open April 1 - May 31 so there is plenty of time for decisions. July will be the month that dorm selection takes place and assigned time is based on when deposit is submitted.
I asked about the dorm selection process in December and it was still communicated as doing it the old “random” way. My son said he looks like he is declining anyway, so no harm no foul.
@HappyNJ my DD received the email on Feb 7, 2020 announcing the new dorm selection process for the class of 2024. Good luck to your son!
