Wondering the same thing. Hoping they get the decisions out a month early like they did for EA
@student295 Not yet. We got a letter in the mail yesterday which got me excited, but it was just info on her major
Idk if they only send acceptance letters, or denials also?
I also applied for this scholarship, and I read that they don’t notify you if you’re denied. I haven’t been notified yet, but one of my friends (the only other person I know that applied for this schol.) received her interview date and time before Christmas break.
I received an email yesterday informing me that Letters for finalists, alternates, and those who were not selected will all be sent out by February 1st.
@student295 @kcr1010 @rainemk I didn’t think they were sending Dingledine letters for people who were not selected, but I got mine today and was not accepted. So I’m guessing everyone will receive a letter no matter their status in the next couple of days.
@avalaanchee Thanks for the update. We still have not received a letter. Maybe today… I’m glad they are letting people know, regardless.
Well letter came, and she was not selected as a finalist
at least we know now
Congrats to all who got their awards. I’m wondering if any one has received info about ‘smaller’ merit amounts? D did not apply for the big scholarships (her gpa was not high enough) but thought she might have a shot at some smaller ones…
My son got a rejection from the Dingledine scholarship committee. 1330 SAT, 4.0, Class President, Varsity Athlete. I don’t know when they award the other Merit Aid but I have read here that it can be quite late, as in late April and may come in chunks
JMU is advertising mid March as of now for merit. Give or take.
My DD has not received any letter back on her Dingledine application. Given the date we assume she was not selected as a finalist. But does anyone have any idea why she has not received any communication since it appears others have been notified of their rejection?
I have a 3.3 UW GPA with 6 AP’s. I also visited the campus in May (From NY where im from) to show interest. DO you think it will be a rejection
TimJG My daughter has similar stats as your son 1320 SAT, 3 sport varsity athlete, class president 3.75 uw gpa and she got a letter of rejection for the DIngledine Scholarship as well. I’m hopeful for other scholarships from JMU but hope that they let her know in a timely manner. She has options now from other schools that already gave her $.
My son received a Madison Recognition Award letter today. It is great news in that it is for $9,500/yr, making JMU a great option. I’m a bit puzzled, however, because it came from the Honors College and he has not received an acceptance into the Honors College yet. Has anyone had any experience with this? I’m pretty damn happy either way
@TimJG Congratulations! My daughter received this scholarship as well.
Was she accepted to the Honors Program? It seems logical as the award came from the Honors Department, but on the website it still says “pending” on his Honors decision. He applied EA for acceptance in general but regular decision to the Honors Program.
@TimJG are you in or out of state?
Curious what general stats are to get this scholarship
@TimJG Yes, my daughter was accepted into Honors College EA. It is likely your son has been accepted since this award is from the Honors College.
@NJWrestlingmom It appears to be an OOS award since one of the requirements is that you maintain out of state residency.
