Thank you CKUnion for this feedback. Do you attend JMU? Again so many positive things about this school, the gluten free options would be her deterrent.
We will definitely follow through with Nutrition services when we go back for ASD, and will also check out E-Hall. I think we went into D Hall on our tour, where the food pantry was. We found it abysmal, unfortunately, and perhaps it was the student that was in there looked quite sad as microwaved his box of mac cheese.
I know some schools label nearly all of the dining hall items, so was disappointed that JMU did not have this label. Maybe it will change.
The JMU parents FB page has several threads about gluten free dietary concerns and options. My son is going to be a freshman in the fall (his #1 choice!) so I’ve joined the parent page already. Lots of spirited and knowledgeable parents there! Good luck to you and your daughter!
@ptptmom I’m an alumn still very involved with the school and I have a child attending JMU as well.
Thank you tucktuck and GKUnion for this info. Super helpful and appreciate your time.
Purple acceptance packet in the mail today!
Honors College decision posted for my daughter today. Anyone else?
Yes, my daughter just found out she was admitted to the honors college!
Purple acceptance envelope arrived !
@pydaoud My son heard that he was admitted into the Honors College as well. Has anyone heard about FA or Scholarships? Are we supposed to apply for those separately? Hoping getting into Honors means more merit $
I heard nothing on notifications, but some you have to apply to, like the Dingledine-Bluestone Scholarships. The Madison Award for Academic Excellence do not require any added applications.
word of advice to all the new parents - be sure to join the official FB pages run by the JMU Parents & Family page. Unfortunately there are many groups that are run by marketing companies (like James Madison University (JMU) Class of 2024 (Official)).
I’d recommend joining the JMU Parents & Family Page", and the “Class of 2024 - Parents” (Run by JMU Parents & Family) page. You may also wish to join “JMU Nation” to keep up with alumni and sports-related activities.
Hi everyone! I applied for the Dingledean-Bluestone scholarship in November and haven’t gotten anything back. I know they said they’ll let you know by Feb 1, but a friend of mine who applied has already gotten an interview date. Has anyone else heard back yet?
Nothing ye @kcr1010 . How was your friend notified?
Not sure, but it was either through email or mail because she didn’t get it through her portal.
There were a few posts from families who’ve received purple acceptance envelopes from EA admissions. My D was admitted EA (we’re OOS) and we have yet to receive any snail mail packet. Just wondering if any other OOS EA admits are still waiting too? Thanks.
The purple envelopes are coming in waves. My son got his this week. It has a nice letter, some stickers and a bit of information. Your daughter’s should come soon. You should definitely join the JMU FB parent’s page. It’s a great resource!
Do you get an envelope if you were deferred ?
I would think you would get a letter.
Has anyone received a letter yet for an interview who applied to the Dingledine-bluestone scholarship?
So they won’t be sending out the regular decision decisions till mid-March right?
