I’m looking for my first job and came across UPS. I’m 18 and will graduate this year. I’m thinking about is working for UPS. I play a lot of sports and would think UPS would be ideal for me, since I like to be moving all the time. My only concern is that the job is very hard physically. Has anyone here ever worked for UPS or know anyone that has?

If you like moving alot, then you should consider working for Starbucks. Seriously. From cash register to coffee counter to coffee machine to pick up counter back to cash register. Fast forward 65000x and repeat for 8 hours (or however long you’re working). And they pay well too…I read somewhere in a newspaper that they give stock options???

I have known a couple people who worked for UPS in the capacity that you are talking about. You will lose weight, because you are constantly moving and lifting heavy packages. On the other hand, be patient, because you won’t be working with the brightest people in the world, as UPS hires a lot of former criminals and single moms. Good luck!

This job is EXTREMELY physical. You will be required to lift packages that are ~60lbs.

Does UPS really hire a lot of former criminals? Isn’t a job from the government… so how would that work? Or is it just USPS that’s government-related?

Starbucks does have a lot of physical movement, as does waitressing and so forth.

UPS != US Postal Office
UPS = United Parcel Service

UPS is not a government agency

Oh okay, gotcha.

USPS is gov’t.

just so u know u will work in a factory for 8hrs a day that has no Ac, i know a friend who worked their its supposed to be just horrible, but the pay is good
