Job Offers/Oppurtunities for CS majors?

Does anyone know who hires CS majors from UIUC? Do any companies recruit them from here, and does anyone know the starting salary of these offers?

Thanks in advance, from a person who will probably go to UIUC in Fall 2010

I can tell you my son will be graduating in May with a degree in Computer Science; he has also completed the Technology and Management program. He received four job offers this fall and has accepted with a consulting firm, which is the area that interests him. There were many well known companies recruiting for both “techie” jobs and consulting; I know he talked to Yahoo. He is happy with his salary but you would have to research that range as I’d rather not say. My son has loved his experience at U. of I. in Computer Science/Technology Management!

To echo Jeannie123, companies actively recruit CS majors. In fact, a professor told me that Microsoft recruits more UIUC graduates than any other school. Lots of CS majors go to big companies like Yahoo, Microsoft, etc.

Jeannie123 : your son completed 2 programs, will he get 2 degree? He completed all courses in this two programs?

No. Technology & Management is a 22 hour minor. So he’ll have a major and a minor.

22 hour minor?WHAT’S THIS?

This page explains the Technology and Management program.

He is able to graduate in four years because he had a lot of AP credit going in.

anyone know the AP credit exchange at UIUC?

i think this is the pg

question: if one has the scores reported in any of the AP classes listed in this schedule, does that mean the incoming student gets UIUC credit noted in this schedule - even if you were not going to major in the class?

eg, my son recvd 5s on both of the Econs, but I am not sure he wd take any econ classes at UIUC.

cooljay, I see that the link you gave was for college of engineering grads. Is there employmetn data for CS majors in the LAS college?

Not sure. That data is probably only CofE since it’s put out by Engineering Career Services, but I’m not 100% positive.
