Is UVA a good enough school to attract the attention of a consulting firm like Mckinsey or Bain. How often are students hired on from there?

[University Career Services](http://www.career.virginia.edu/) or the [Commerce School’s Career Services](http://www.commerce.virginia.edu/career_services/index.html) can answer the question better than I.

But, consider the fact that we are a top public university, our undergraduate business school routinely gets accolades from major publications, and our students find jobs all over the country (though, obviously, many are from this region and choose to stay here).

yes! I was actually at one of their business presentations a week ago. Both are definitely still recruiting at UVA.

Do they recruit more business majors or other majors like history, english, science, etc?

I don’t know any specific stats off the top of my head, so I can’t say that they take more of one major than another… At presentations most companies always stress how ALL applicants are welcome to apply, regardless of major… but I would definitely think having a business background would be to your advantage simply because 1) the prestige of the comm school at UVA 2) the skills you acquire while taking commerce classes. So I don’t know specific stats, but I would think that they do take more kids from the commerce school. However, I’m sure non-comm majors can get jobs at those consulting firms… it really comes down to your individual skills and abilities and how well you do in the interview, not just how you look on paper. Hope that helps!
