Jobs fit for a psychopath

[Jobs fit for a psychopath? - Houston Chronicle](http://www.chron.com/jobs/article/Jobs-fit-for-a-psychopath-4172506.php)

According to the article, the ten jobs with the highest rates of psychopaths are:

Chief Executive Officer

Lawyer

Media (Television/Radio)

Salesperson

Surgeon

Journalist

Police officer

Clergy person

Chef

Civil servant

The ten lowest are:

Care aide

Nurse

Therapist

Craftsperson

Beautician or stylist

Charity worker

Teacher

Creative artist

Doctor

Accountant

Traders in the financial markets should be on the highest rate list. Chefs? :)

That list is… quite terrifying actually.

Having watched some of those cooking shows, I can believe the chefs.

The list doesn’t surprise me. Especially the police officer (no offense to the good ones but some are truly crazy).

I an twice sane as I am a teacher and a creative artists.

Forgot about the cooking shows. Some chefs…

I like America’s Test Kitchen. No psychopaths.

I wonder if “doctor” (9th lowest) includes or excludes the subset of “surgeon” (5th highest).

Surprised me that accountants are less likely to be psychopaths, as I have never thought of that as a particularly directly “nurturing” profession, unlike many of the others on that list.

Qualities often observed in professional athletes… and politicians.

Politicians should be top of the list!!

Scary.

I could understand if the list was about highest rates of narcissists, but psychopaths? Wow. Yikes.

Now, everytime we encounter someone from the first list we’re going to be thinking…hmm…psychopath???

Hey!!! Watch it!

Surgeons are just doctors with knives. Scary!

What’s crazy scary too is that bottom line oriented companies probably use psychological testing to find new executive officers who are psychopaths. “This guy is perfect for our company…he’s a psychopath!”

In the mid 80’s my husband had extensive psychological testing for a high level sales job in media. A double whammy! Two of the top four!

No one would describe him as warm and fuzzy but he is fair, honest and extremely hard working. He got the job and has since become very successful in the field. He has met a lot of narcissists and a couple psychopaths along the way. Thankfully he hasn’t had to work for any in many years.

". “This guy is perfect for our company…he’s a psychopath!”"

Lol

Read “The Sociopath Next Door” by Martha Stout and you’ll see how and why that list exists. Total great read and very enlightening. Except you’ll figure out a sociopath lives next door to you…
(and there’s a difference between sociopath and psychopath…you don’t want to know either but one is more common…)

From personal experience, I will say that the most polished psychopaths, sociopaths, and people with narcissistic personality disorder are extremely charming and spend a lot of time hiding their true nature. You would never identify them as psychopaths, nor would they ever show you their “true face”. If they did, they would be very close to destroying you on some level (emotionally, psychologically, spiritually).

Why I stopped going to church a long time ago.

I spent a long time waiting for the most notable sociopath in my experience to go to prison. After years of harming others and his own family, he finally did.

He plead guilty in a plea deal, served his sentence, and when released he ever-so earnestly AND loudly refuted his guilt.

**True sociopaths are incapable of changing their behavior. **

Anyone with a big enough ego and too much power, status, money or attention tends to fall into this group. (and those that crave the same) These professions may attract or feed these personality types, but sociopaths can be anywhere. Sadly, they need others to feed their egos, since they are really empty, unhappy, insecure people.
