<p>I have an F-1 student visa at this point, but no social security or anything.
I can supposedly get one in six weeks if I need it, but I was wondering… can I legally work with a social security number obtained through the F-1 visa?
Or do I need a green card and all.</p>
<p>You can get a work permit for part time if you say that you’re under economic hardship or you can go under CPT/OPT.</p>
