I’ve seen a lot of posts about work-study jobs, but what are some common jobs for people who are not work-study but need money?

The SFS SEO website has a search option to limit searches to non-work study jobs; that’s one place to start.

Non-work study jobs are similar to work-study jobs; they just tend to be fewer in number, so it’s a little harder to find one. There are jobs in labs, the library, in department offices (administrative work) etc. I worked in a microbio lab during the school year. Started off doing basic stuff like cleaning glassware, making stock solutions, etc. and now I’m working on a research project there for the summer.

a bunch of my friends and i work for Wikinvest part time.

For those of you who work during the school year, do you apply during NSO? Or when?

You can apply whenever. One of my friends applied around NSO or shortly afterwards. I didn’t apply for a job until October. Jobs open up throughout the semester, but they tend to go fast.

I didn’t apply for a job until January of sophomore year actually… now I’m manager of the Penn Student Agencies Store

Okay that’s not true… I applied for a couple off-campus jobs at restaurants but none panned out.

If you’re interested in a non-work-study job, we’ve got openings at the PSA Store. PM me with an email address and I’ll give you some information when we’re hiring.

If you can wrap buritos please work at Chipotle.
