Hey everyone, I just received that little pamphlet listing some basic info about jobs available on campus. there seem like there are a lot! i was just wondering if it is necessary to bring internship-type clothes for work (and maybe for also going to office hours to see professors?) Basically, do campus jobs (whether a tour guide or tutor) have a specific dress code? Thanks!

The dress code at most jobs I’ve come across is casual. But I would still bring a few nice outfits with you. Even if they sit in your closet all year, it’s worth the peace of mind. You don’t want to be scrambling to get things shipped if a conference or interview sneaks up on you at the last minute.

most jobs have no dress code, but as weasel said a dress outfit or two could be really useful. I needed to dress in professional attire several times and it was useful to have it with me. Also, some of my friends have had jobs off campus (secretaries, kaplan tutors, etc) and needed internship clothes for them.

Most jobs are casual and you don’t need to dress up to go to office hours. However, there are events sometimes (like tea with an important speaker) for which you might want to dress up a little. Also some jobs will require that you wear black slacks and they’ll provide a uniform shirt (working at Richardson, for example).

thanks! you guys are so helpful!
