Jobs

Where can I work as a student in DC? Not internships or anything like that, just a nighttime job to earn some cash. Are there a decent number of places nearby, walking distance. Malls maybe, random stores.

I have the same question, but I was wondering how difficult it is to get a job on campus (particularly if I didn’t get any work-study). Hours?

AU is located in a residential area, but nearby (as in about a 15 min walking distance or a 10 min shuttle ride) there is the “tentley” area, which is where the metro is located and there are a few stores in the area (like CVS, payless, starbucks, a bike store, container store etc). So you can get a job there. The next metro stop away (about a 15 min walk from tentley or a 5 min metro ride) is the area of friendship heights, which has a mall and MUCH more stores and more places to eat. So if you were looking for a night job, that would be the place. There is like a cheese cake factory, GAP, boarders, etc.

For work study programs, a lot of people who are given them get fired, quit, decide not to work there, etc. So then people who really want their old jobs can apply for them. If you want a work study job, but nov u prob shouldn’t have an issue finding one. AU lists on their “hot jobs/ interships site” a list of job openings. This will be very helpful for you guys.

Good luck!!
