jobs

what kind of part-time employment opportunities are available at tufts/the surrounding area?

not an awful i don’t think. They said they were a few jobs at the front office doing clerical type work…also heaps of the surrounding shops just like waitressing/waitering and retail…not sure of any others?? would also like to know because i REALLY need to get a job somewhere in medford…

on campus, i’ve held four jobs while at tufts.

I worked at Tufts Telefund, which is kind of like telemarketing. It pays well, but it is not an easy job. This was the only non-workstudy job I had at Tufts.

I worked in the reference section of the library. This was not a fun job, because I basically shelved books and kept inventory.

I worked again in the library but at the media center, manning the desk. This is an amazing job.

I worked for TUTV. This was also an amazing job.

Off-campus, I knew people who worked in cafes and restaurants. I knew people who did retail.

my boyfriend and his roommate are paid by Tufts Student Resources to drive the van that delivers laundry to kids who order the laundry service. On Tuesday and Thursday, from 4 to 9, they’d pick up the laundry bags and carry them to the doors of the students they belonged to. It paid pretty well, for barely any work (plus they really missed driving during freshman year), but it sucked because I wouldn’t get to see them.

Other friends have worked at Hotung Cafe or in the English office, for example. Or working the desk at the gym making sure people sign in and give you their IDs. I want to work as a clerk in the Poli Sci office but at the same time I don’t want to have to walk uphill to Eaton from South all the time, hahahah…

okay. it’s not THAT bad.
