I read My Sister’s Keeper two years ago, and I loved it… so I read some other books by Picoult, like Vanishing Acts (another favorite). It mentions a lot about Dartmouth because some of the book is set in Hanover. Then I found out that Picoult herself lives in Hanover - how interesting is that?!

I think it’s so cool! I wonder if she ever does anything at Dartmouth…

lots of famous authors live in/around hanover

a lot of other authors - like who?

bill bryson, janet evanovich, philip booth, j.d. salinger lives in the area and is often seen at baker library

bill bryson moved back to England, bro.

yea you’ll see authors around, they do readings in/around town sometimes, it’s pretty cool

maybe so but i had lunch with bill bryson and a professor at hanover inn last term…bro.

^^ sweet. He’s a pretty great guy. I had dinner with him last year with a mutual friend from the Hanover area. He clearly loves the area.

anyway, the point is there are a bunch of literary-types around Hanover, and while for the most part they like to keep to themselves (they are quite busy … ) there’s also the chance for you to have a pretty unique experience with them.

Picoult, especially, is pretty visible, more so (at least from my experience) than the others on that list.

ahh i’m so excited to get on campus then! i heard about salinger… but i wasn’t sure it was true. i know he lives around the area-- i guess i just didn’t think he’d make an appearance in a dartmouth library. amazing.

Wow, I knew Salinger lived in NH, but I didn’t know he lived around Hanover! That is definitely a cool piece of info. And Evanovich too? My day is made.
