Joe Queenan on why we should saddle our children with debt

<p>The bill for the first semester just arrived, so reading this was balm for our souls. </p>

<p>To her credit, D1 also thought it was hilarious. She’s probably just trying to butter us up so that we won’t provide her with a bill for services to date. :)</p>

<p>I get the joke, but his analogy kind of falls apart once you realize that kids from upper-middle class homes (the ones whose parents can take vacations, give them brand new cars, and send them away to college at a cost of $140,000 out of pocket) aren’t the only ones who are going to be paying taxes in the future. It seems like an article that’s written for a very narrow target audience and the analogy wouldn’t really make sense for over half of American families.</p>
