<p>I saw a brief preview for the upcoming show Monday night, a special one-hour show, which supposedly discloses some decisions Jon and Kate have made. Just a teaser, but I’m guessing something will leak out before Monday.</p>
<p>Perhaps this is all coming to an end, finally.</p>
<p>Word around town is they are going to announce that Jon is living above the garage and they will be filing for divorce next month.</p>
<p>What a sad end to this story. It is bad enough that these eight children have been exposed to cameras capturing their every move for most of their lives, but now their family life will change drastically. It is amazing that just one year ago Jon & Kate renewed their wedding vows in Hawaii - which could have been done just for ratings. In any case, the children are the ones that will suffer for their parents greed and infidelity. Kate has let dollar signs motivate her every move from day one, but she won’t suffer the consequences of this divorce - the children will.</p>

<p>It doesn’t have to be. I think most of us agree that Kate treats Jon pretty badly. Who knows - maybe the marriage has lasted longer than it would have but for the kids. Maybe both parents will be happier people if they divorce.</p>
<p>Kate will suffer consequences. They all will. There are no winners here. As far as I know, she needs to keep the show going to keep the house.</p>
<p>If people care about the welfare of the kids, don’t watch the show. Let the ratings drop. Perhaps by not watching the show, you’re helping to get the cameras out of the kids lives. </p>
<p>Don’t worry about Kate. The only people that she needs in her life are her hired help. As long as they’re catering to her needs, wants, and demands and jump at every order she spits out of her mouth, she’ll be a happy woman. She’ll find a way to stay the center of attention and keep cameras focused on her.</p>

<p>America loves a train wreck, so the “show” will go on. What we need now is a new title:
‘Kate plus eight’ doesn’t seem right, considering all the hired help …</p>

<p>I’ve seen several reports that confirm a divorce.</p>
<p>I used to watch the show, and still watch older episodes on TLC when it was actually about the kids. Now it’s all about the drama, and I’ve stopped watching.</p>
<p>As for the spanking–I don’t necessarily agree with it, but from what I saw it was at the Gosselins’ home. If that is the case, she has the right to discipline her children in the way she deems appropriate (if it’s not abusive, which it didn’t seem to be).</p>
<p>The whole mess has just gone way too far. I don’t ever think about whose motives are good or evil, because I don’t know these people personally. All we know is what the cameras show. So whether Kate is really as “evil” as everyone makes her out to be, and whether Jon is as much of a “pushover” as everyone makes him out to be…debatable.</p>
<p>But it is time for these kids to be able to live as normal a life as possible. Quit the show if you’re getting a divorce…no one needs to see that on national television.</p>
<p>I don’t know that it’s sad. I mean, yes, it’s sad, but I think there have been signs of this for a long time. Jon always said he didn’t want to do another season because it was impacting their family. The two don’t want the same things anymore.</p>

<p>I also heard they will be announcing a formal separation, and that they each are now represented by divorce attorneys. The pics of Kate loosing it and spanking one of the 6 appear to have been taken at the old house. Perhaps they are getting it ready for Jon. It would make sense to have him have a “place” there that is familiar to the kids. Maybe he would take 2-3 at a time. They took down all those special lights…maybe they will go back up. </p>
<p>I have not watched the show since the first episode of the season. I just want to see the lights go out for awhile. But America does love a train wreck, and the promos for this coming show are shameless in that regard.</p>
<p>I think it was Jon Stewart who proposed “John+4” and “Kate+4.”</p>
<p>The spanking of Leah wasn’t in any tabloid around here- I actually saw the pic on the ABCnews.com site this evening. Given Kate’s displays of temper and lack of restraint, she would have been smarter moving elsewhere with her telelphone call and just let the kids play; there were other adults there, so she woudn’t have been leaving kids unsupervised. What kind of parent expects kids- 8 of them??!!- to be silent while she’s on a phone call? Heck, the teenagers still come out the woodwork when I’m talking here! Anyway, it has always seemed like the Gosselin kids are struck or kicked by “anyone bigger than -insert name of child being hit-”. First an older sib, then one their own age and now the mom. Great way to grow up; and I can tell you from personal experience that money and a fancy estate don’t make up for those incidents in a kid’s life.
As for the ratings- you do realize that no one knows if you are watching that show or “Sponge Bob”, unless you are participating in a Nielson panel. They take those samples and multiply by the standard they have chosen and extrapolate viewership that way. The actual numbers are far from accurate (used to work for Arbitron, the radio ratings firm). So go ahead and enjoy your guilty pleasures!!
With 24 acres and all of their money, Jon could move out to another part of property and build a place there. It’s probably not as much of a “chick magnet” though, since an apt in NYC would have far more panache than having your girlfriend visiting your place with 8 kids running in and out. Hey, maybe he’ll move into one of those “crooked houses” that Kate has conned someone into “donating” to her kids!
I enjoyed watching the kids over the years, but always cringed when someone, usually Kate, hung a “label” on one of them (ie.,“the Little Princess”, “Mommy’s helper”, “The Professor”, “The Heartbreaker”), or when they never missed a chance to put Maddy down in public. If that’s the way they acted when filming was taking place, I can only imagine what those little ones heard when the crews went home for the day. I feel badly for them and think that the decision makers at TLC should be ashamed of themselves for allowing the train-wreck of a family the theatre in which to expose themselves to the world. Nothing, not money, not fame, can ever make up for what those kids are going to have to deal with for the rest of their lives, because these shows are not only going to be available for syndication until 2—, but are also preserved for posterity on DVDs, available in WalMarts all over the world.</p>
<p>Sorry for saying that nothing about the “spanking” wasn’t in the print media.
I was in the store today and lo and behold, right there in the check out line, were multiple tabloids with cover pics of Kate Gosselin, arm hauled all the way back, preparing to wallop Leah. WOW! If someone had hit me with that kind of force (impact can be implied from the angle and height of the arm prepared to strike), I’m pretty sure that I would be dealing with bruises today. I don’t believe that anyone has the right to “discipline” a child in that way. All it shows a youngster is that “I’m bigger than you are, so therefor I can hurt you if I feel like it”. How pitiful.</p>
<p>What I find amazing is that only a couple of days before she had the cops out at her house because of the photographers being on her property. You would think she knows that she is living under the microscope, and she was only on the cover as Mean Mommy with one of the other kids while she was at the beach over Memorial Day.</p>
<p>Local news said the papers were filed today in Doylestown.</p>

<p>What is so disappointing is that Jon is looking for an apartment in NY. Is that just for his trysts? Or will he really live there full time? You’d think he’d want to live near the kids. I don’t think that even with the money from the show he has enough money to buy an apartment in NY that will comfortably hold 8 kids! If he thinks Kate is a witch, wouldn’t he want the kids as much as possible?</p>
<p>Don’t watch the show, but judging from the covers of the tabloids in the checkout line, Kate always comes out as the bad guy. Seriously doubt, if she’s that bad, that the husband is any better. It’s one thing if they split up-- they can still work together as parents, if not spouses – but to look for an apartment in NYC? Doesn’t he have any desire to give the kids a sense of continuity? Can only imagine the outrage if the wife had done the same.</p>
<p>I just watched tonights episode and they said on June 22 legal papers were filed to dissolve the marriage.</p>
<p>They also went on to say that they parents are going to rotate who stays in the house with the kids. When it is Jon’s days she will leave and let him be with the kids alone and vice versa. </p>
<p>Kate seemed genuinely upset over the whole think we she talked about the separate (this is before the writing came up about the divorce). Jon seemed calm and had a it is what it is attitude.</p>
<p>I disagree. I think that both parents were very upset, and stressed out! Jon choked up when he was talking about family.</p>
