Can anyone give me some information on JBU and what it’s like? Especially music programs if you can
JBU is a fabulous school! I loved the strong academics, authentic faith community and professors that truly invest in your life. It’s a place to truly feel known and be a part of something bigger than yourself.
The music program is fantastic too. It’s a great balance between traditional and modern music and worship styles. You can major in music education, music applied and music general. For music education, students participate in choral and instrumental ensembles, music theater productions, music workshops, master classes, and observe and teach lessons in the local school systems. Upon graduation, students are certified to teach in preschool through 12th grade music programs. For music applied it prepares students for professional performance, studio teaching and graduate school. From the start, students take private lessons, perform in master classes, prepare recitals, and compete in state competitions while studying music theory, music history, lyric diction and vocal pedagogy. For music general, the curriculum offers a balance of private applied studies, public performance and ensemble experience with coursework in music theory and history.
