John Carroll University!

Hi guys,

I’m an Indian student who got accepted to JCU (John Carroll University) this year, been getting alot of mixed reviews about the place. Please feel free to give me your reviews. It would really be appreciated! would like to know more about the Uni before i make a big jump!

Where else have you been admitted and what worries you exactly?

i havent applied to alot of universities in the USA. Got accepted into Illinois State. I have been getting very mixed reviews about the place, How its really bad because most students keep drinking. the quality of education isnt worth the high tuition fees! why dont you check out this link: http://www.studentsreview.com/OH/John_Carroll_University.html

Really explains why Im worried!

In the US, most students drink a lot. In order to avoid those, you can request a “healthy living” or “substance-free” floor. If you got into Honors, apply for Honors Housing - while it doesn’t mean these students won’t “party” (get very drunk), it ensures that they’ll be the most motivated students at the college and will likely study more during the week at least.
Did you get into the Honors Program at either one, or can you still apply to get in (if test scores are factored in, point out that you took the tests in a foreign language).
John Carroll is better than Illinois State. I don’t think there’s a difference in terms of drinking at either one, but John Carroll has better academics.

Many kids from my school (specifically some of our best students) attend John Carroll University. I come from a conservative high school where drinking is scarce (but not invisible.) If John Carroll appeals to them, I’m sure that it will appeal to you. Keep in mind that people are more likely to leave reviews if they had a negative experience at the college. For every negative review, there are probably hundreds of alum who loved their time at JCU. Don’t pay it much mind.

true, its a huge jump tho from India to USA plus i really dont want to end up regretting my choice! hmm great to have some reassurance tho! Does anyone know someone who went there personally? The mentor i got is being too diplomatic about his experience there!
