John McMullen Dean's Scholar

My S received a letter saying he was selected as a John Mc Mullen Dean’s Scholar, is this important?

I’m a freshman who also received this award…so far it hasn’t meant anything except free money and free food this one time.

McMullen Dean’s Scholarship
The Scholarship is based on the Students application. Being selected means that the McMullen Dean’s Scholar’s are at the top of the accepted class and they really would like them to attend.
Congratulations.

The Book award is currently $600.00, if you don’t qualify for need based aid.

Hi, can someone who currently attends Cornell (or graduated recently) talk a little about what this award comes with? Besides the $600 grant, are there any special privileges associated with it? Also, is it still apprxoimately 60 people selected for the award or has that changed?
