<p>My S received a letter saying he was selected as a John Mc Mullen Dean’s Scholar, is this important?</p>
<p>I’m a freshman who also received this award…so far it hasn’t meant anything except free money and free food this one time.</p>
<p>McMullen Deans Scholarship
The John McMullen Deans Scholarship is the most prestigious award in the College of Engineering. It recognizes undergraduate students with outstanding achievements inside and outside of the classroom and indicates our confidence that you have an exceptionally bright future at Cornell and in engineering.</p>
<p>The John McMullen Deans Scholarship is named for John McMullen, who was the president of the Atlantic Gulf & Pacific Company and a friend of several Cornell alumni. The first McMullen Deans Scholar entered the College in 1925. Receiving this honor places students in a select, exceptional group of past and present student engineers who have received McMullen support during their undergraduate years at Cornell.

The programs discussed below carry a financial award that is included in the financial aid package. If you apply for financial aid and are determined to have sufficient need, the award will reduce the loan and work portion of your financial aid package. If you are determined to have “no need” or do not apply for financial aid, you will receive an award to pay for books.
The Book award is currently $600.00, if you don’t qualify for need based aid.</p>
Hi, can someone who currently attends Cornell (or graduated recently) talk a little about what this award comes with? Besides the $600 grant, are there any special privileges associated with it? Also, is it still apprxoimately 60 people selected for the award or has that changed?
