I rarely ever hear anyone complain about how much money these folks make. I personally could care less but I’m hoping someone can explain it. Thanks!

Maybe acting is perceived as more of a “skill”?

Plus, professional actors are perceived as an “elite” group of people, so people don’t like to bash them as much (not that it doesn’t happen, and often).

I knew they were going to make another one.

Yeah. I knew there were going to make another movie. I love the double standard though. I would like to see Johnny hit a 95 an hour fastball or take a hit from Ray Lewis.

The Hollywood Actors make so much money because they are entertainers. The number of people who go out to see a movie with friends, or stay home and watch TV to take their mind off things is incredible. I actually disagree, I don’t think that Hollywood stars are paid too much. From a marketing point of view, look at how many people see these actors, and how many people are influenced by them. If I were a marketing company, and I was trying to advertise a product that males 18-34 would use, I would find someone or something that could attract the attention of all these people. Most of the time, these people that are hired are actors or models. And their payments are justified.

And about the double standard, I’d like to see a lot of the athletes try and act. Most can’t. Take a look at Michael Phelps during SNL. It was a good try, but you could see that he made countless mistakes, and I felt that it detracted a bit from the sketch.

Okay? That’s like saying throwing or catching a ball isn’t difficult either. Not everyone can do it (many people are so uncoordinated) but it is pretty to learn.

What I was talking about is that you can’t make that argument, because most likely, athletes will never act in the same caliber as an actor, and an actor will never be able to play professional sports in the same caliber as the athletes. Both groups are people are exceptionally skilled at what they do, and are justly paid for it.

Many people can act on a par with movie stars, but can’t get into the business because of their looks, lack of funding (getting an agent is expensive), or tons of other reasons. Not everyone can throw a ball on a par with a professional athlete.

I think this could possibly be a decent movie if they do as the article suggests and write a story that doesn’t include Will and Elizabeth. Part of the problem with the second and third movies is that the story of those characters was basically finished but had to be dragged out through two more sequels. Much as I like those two characters and the actors who played them, a story about Jack Sparrow that includes a different supporting cast and different plot might be better.

Most actors only earn top pay for a few years out of their careers. Their stars rise and fall very quickly. I don’t begrudge Johnny Depp his paycheck.
