soo . . . waitlist guys (: lol what do you think of our chances?

Close to 0%. I’m glad some opportunities opened up for my safety school. I’m pretty excited either way, but getting off Johns Hopkins waitlist would be the best.

Duke has already started to take people off the waitlist. They play this game every year: admitting fewer number of students initially to have a low admission rate and then taking off people off the waitinglist even before May 1. Hopkins should learn to play the admission game too.

I have never pictured Hopkins as a school to “play the game” but I’m not sure what happens there. I think schools that “play the game” don’t get a good rep because of it.

“Johns Hopkins University says it is only taking a handful at most, about the same as last year.” :/

[Colleges admit few students off the wait list](http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/06136/690641-298.stm)

^^ incorrect - that article is from Tuesday, May 16, 2006

last year they didn’t accept anyone off the waitlist… hopefully this year will be different. when do you think we’ll start hearing back?

ahah sikeee haha thanks for catching that wealth!
i was looking at today’s date . . . hehe ^^;;

So I went to JHU after getting my wait list notification and I talked to the director of admissions and here’s the situation:

*Last year, they had a surprising amount of students accepted their offers of admission
*They received a bigger class than they could take (they no longer can guarantee housing for juniors and seniors, bigger class sizes, it’s a mess)
*SO the guy (Daniel, I believe) told me that they purposefully admitted FAR less students this year so they wouldn’t have that same problem
*They expect they’ll have a large gap they’ll need to fill with wait list students
- He guaranteed me that JHU ABSOLUTELY WILL be taking off their waitlist…they just don’t know how many students

So there’s still hope for us! We can do it!! (:

thanks for telling us this marie!!! (:

just wondering… does the school recalculate it’s admissions rate after waitlist acceptees are taken into account?

Marie, that’s great news! Thanks!

Good luck everybody!

So the roll calling starts today.

I got into Stanford but waitlisted at JHU. I’d really rather go to JHU tho but honestly, how does that even pan out?

tharp993: It is called Tufts Syndrome.

wow…well that sucks

A lot schools including Chicago, Duke, Rice and Emory have already gotten into action on their waitlists. Apparently, Hopkins is not in a hurry.

they’re apparently deciding mid may. so yes they’re in no hurry

Does anyone know if there’s a deadline for sending in updates?

there’s no " hard " deadline but i would get it in as soon as possible
