Johns Hopkins 2024 RD/Deferred Applicants Discussion

@collegeappacc it was the 2018 1040 and Schedule 1 tax forms for my non-custodial parent (my dad). I did sent it before the due date, but John’s Hopkins told me the first time that I didn’t submit it. So in spite of the IDOC saying don’t submit items twice, I did. And they still sent me emails! So I sent the forms a third time, and they said they finally received them and are processing them, but it’s still not reflected on my portal. I’m just waiting for their office to open tomorrow so that I can call again for like the sixth time ?.

^ Oh and I’ve gotten six emails regarding financial aid since 1/16/20

LOL, that’s weird. I assume the emails are sent when something is missing from your checklist. I got an Email on 1/31, and everyth was green on my checklist since like 2/10 at the latest, so that’s prolly why.

@whidbeyite2002 That’s exactly my current dilemma!!! I’ve submitted the 1040 form three times and I was confused and nervous at first since it clearly states in the IDOC, don’t submit the same forms more than once, but hopefully it works out in the end. Also my family doesn’t own a business or a farm, they barely make $20k right by crowded Los Angeles lol.

lol guys its not even one more week, there’s no reason to be trying to analyze this now

5 days left

@Ultra39w85 so exciting! Good luck everyone!!

3 days and 6 hours left… it’s all happening so fast!

@throwaway0324 Ha! It feels slow to me, and slower the closer we get to Friday! I’m more anxious than my son. I hope he and everyone here gets in!

@coco3611 this week is super slow, but it feels like I submitted my application yesterday… I’m hoping that they got less applications (therefore having a higher acceptance rate) like some other top schools have had this year

@CarBarlos does your portal show a green check next to verification # in Family/College Dep?
I haven’t received any emails since January.

yes

@123456789111 do you think that’s a mandatory form for everyone applying for FA?

I thought so.

@egellocnoos maybe not though because it has an asterisk by it.

@123456789111 just looked and saw I have an asterisk by it too.

@123456789111 @egellocnoos the asterisk just means that those documents can be uploaded directly to the portal, they don’t have to go through IDOC.

Anyways, there’s been no correlation between financial aid changes + acceptance or rejection in past years for JHU, so there’s really no point in trying to read into it.

Previous threads for other schools show that schools will redownload fafsas randomly (regardless of admissions decision) because they are required to verify a small fraction of them.

less than 3 days now

@throwaway0324 Thank you! I was so scared because I didn’t have a change.

@throwaway0324 was also afraid because I didn’t have any changes in dates. thank you for your response.

Actually, this from the Dartmouth forum: “Years past show correlation between date changes in financial aid portals to acceptances.”
