Johns Hopkins 2024 RD/Deferred Applicants Discussion

All of my forms have December dates. It might mean something tbh because I’m 100% getting rejected

@collegeappacc Are the March ones showing a March date because you sent them late or because they were downloaded again or however that works. I checked my portal and for whatever reason, my Dad’s 1040 shows an updated date of 2/28/20 even though I submitted it on 1/15/20

Also I’m super nervous decisions are out this Friday ?

@CarBarlos I don’t think anything was redownloaded. That’s weird, did your checklist show it was complete before or nah?

also @CarBarlos does ur portal have all of those documents, super nervous, seems like they addded a lot

@collegeappacc I completed everything literally like 40 seconds before the deadline lol and it showed 1/15/20 on my checklist prior to the date change. And ya it is a lot but I do have all of the documents, just find two things strange: the aforementioned redownload (or whatever caused the date change), and the fact that their student financial aid services keeps emailing me telling me that in still missing documents even though I called Idoc assuring me that they received all the documents and John’s Hopkins for like seven times telling me that they did receive said documents too and that they were processing my aid package.

wow @CarBarlos that’s probably a good sign if they’re processing your aid.

@collegeappacc Really? I showed the countless emails to my college counselor and she said it was probably just a alert for all students that haven’t submitted all financial aid documents (which I did to begin with). But I want to agree that it is a sign of hope because it says process in the email, they said they were processing it, and they’ve been sending me emails nearly two months after the financial aid due date.

For reference, my friend applied for Johns Hopkins RD as well, but he got discouraged in proceeding to add them for financial aid after he got rejected ED from Northwestern for Materials Science, so he didn’t edit his FAFSA or CSS to add John’s Hopkins, but he doesn’t want to withdraw because he wants to “confirm his rejection.” He hasn’t received a single notification from them asking him to review his financial aid.

^ Similar story applies to our salutatorian (good friend of mine). She didn’t submit all her IDOC files until 2/4/20 because of family circumstances, and she never received a single email within that time frame, whereas I got two emails within 1/16/20 (the day after it was due) and 2/4/20. If anyone has received any financial aid emails, maybe it’s a good sign!

@CarBarlos I got one on Jan 31, but that probably doesn’t matter, but then I submitted my IDOC stuff, so i don’t know.

@collegeappacc just trying to keep my optimism high for this Friday. So nervous yet so excited ?

I have received no update about anything whatsoever so I’m probably getting rejected?

I am an International applying for Need-Based Aid. There is no way I’m getting in anywhere…

@CarBarlos, first off, I’m wishing you the best! My daughter was accepted to JHU last year, and we received similar emails. Sometimes in IDOC, forms are not labeled as submitted, creating some confusion. As a result, we needed to resubmit forms for at least 3 colleges, some via email. Also, if a parent owns a business, JHU will look for a Business and Farm Supplement form. Good luck! I think it is a good sign.

By the way, have there been any ** reliable ** hints about JHU Admissions in the past?

Not much data on CC. Prolly not reliable but in CC JHU RD 2023:

  • One had change in original FAFSA “received” date to date in February = Accepted
  • One had no change in FAFSA “received” date = Rejected

@binlee that’s not entirely reliable because another student with no change to their documents got in

and one with a change did not comment on the thread again (but commented about his acceptances to other schools on other threads, leading me to believe that he/she was waitlisted/rejected)

so in short, @aarybalkar , there’s no reliable hints

@collegeappacc @CarBarlos
admissions and fin aid are separate. everyone’s aid gets processed, not just admitted students’.
that being said, i think you’re in @carbarlos based on what other people are saying about the emails
all of my things have dates ranging from 12-30 to 1-14, some IDOC documents show up as received a couple days before others, and some documents show up as received before i even sent them

@binlee Do you have a date change on your FAFSA? There’s only one person last year - Not sure what that means.

@CarBarlos were you missing a lot of things or just the Business and Farm Supplement or Business Tax supplement, when JHU kept emailing you. How often was it? Because i was missing the verification statement which wasn’t on my portal.

Also, my portal says Received 2018 IRS Business Tax Forms-Parent 02/06/2020 even though my parents don’t own a business or farm
