ED2 release tomorrow. Here’s some partial information. Clearly JHU valuing real world experience such as jobs & internships (97% of admits had at least one of those activities):

With our Early Decision II (EDII) decision release tomorrow, we wanted to share a few updates as you continue to support your students through the college admissions process.

When will Hopkins notify EDII applicants of their admissions decision?

Decisions will be released tomorrow, Friday, February 13, at 3 p.m. EST (UTC–5:00).

  • Students should have received an email to set up an account to access their applicant portal. If they have not yet done so, encourage them to check the email they used to apply for instructions.
  • If they have trouble setting up their account or did not receive the email, they can reach out to gotojhu@jhu.edu.
  • Admissions decisions will be available to counselors next week at Slate.org.

What does this year’s EDII applicant pool look like?

This year, we received over 3,800 applications and admitted 260 students through EDII. Of the admitted students, 23% will be the first in their families to go to college, and 63% attend a public high school. During high school, 97% held part-time jobs, internships, or summer jobs; 57% were active in the arts; 53% were involved in athletics; and 56% were involved in policy, civic engagement, or advocacy work.

Kid waitlisted. Realize that it’s the same as a rejection, but a bit easier on the ego, at least.

Son is a junior in high school. Looking to figure out college early, and decisions largely impacted by tuition, merit scholarships, etc. Early admission deadline is Nov 1, but would like to get things in place before that. What is the earliest a junior can apply?
