Is it possible to take AP Bio and AP Human halfway through the year and still earn an A in both classes? (Both APs are year long courses at my school.) I am willing to self study what I missed throughout the second semester for the AP exam but I’m unsure if I would do well in the classes having missed half of the material.
*I should also add that I am already taking 4 AP classes.
Are you able to ? AP Human Geo was easy it’s basically memorization so go for it…but AP Bio might be a bit hard to switch into because of all the material they covered during the first semester.
@3idek3 I don’t know if I’m able to, but I want to know if I could handle the classes before I ask.
@jackrabbit14 I have 2 open periods for classes and I don’t want to drop my GPA with level classes. It’s also common in my school to take 5+ AP classes at the same time.
If you’re already taking 4 APs then you are already demonstrating course rigor to colleges. The additional APs will only cause diminishing marginal returns, and put your GPA at risk. Spend your extra time on standardized test studying or devote more time into your ECs.
@IAmNotCreativ I have all my elective credits. My school doesn’t offer any honors electives, just preap classes. I already took all the preap classes my school offers.
It seems like AP Bio is the class that I should not take. I looked at the course overviews for AP Human and Bio and I can see why Bio would be rather difficult.
Is there something like TAing you could do instead? Colleges are often creative with how they score GPA (since they want to brag about the best GPA possible) and exclude that in an “academic GPA” and “A-G GPA” or some other sort of GPA that excludes classes like that. It may or may not mess up rankings depending on which GPA your high school uses for that.
And as for whether or not you could still get an A, try asking currently people in that class. You shouldn’t be able to make up that material, but some teachers are very easy.
