Jokes for the Backyard Gardener

Yeah there’s snow all around outside, but if you’re like me you’re itching to get the 2013 growing season started. Here are a few compost jokes I found to keep me sane and sober as I wait for the last possible frost date. Heh, heh.

Your know you’re a slightly maladjusted compost gardener when…

You buy an unneeded extra amount of vegetables for the family dinner table, but you purposely indulge your vegetable-phobic kids and therefore let the veggies rot in the crisper so you can throw the spoiled stuff in your compost pile.

You cry when you discover your spouse throwing away rotten food, and he/she didn’t first ask you if you wanted it.

You take the temperature of your compost pile more often than that of your sick kids or sick spouse.

You’re giddy after a night of beer drinking, when you immediately head to your compost pile to add some nitrogen to the mix.

You move your huge bag of spent coffee grinds so a fellow bus rider can have a seat, and then talk their ear off about compost gardening for the entire trip.

Here’s a riddle:

Q. Where can you find Queen Elizabeth in bed with Mr. Lincoln and John F. Kennedy?

A. In my rose garden!

(If you’re not a rose gardener, these are names of popular roses-- I really do have the 3 of them in the same bed.)

I have queen elizabeth & jfk but different beds.
I dont have lincoln though.
I used to have Chrysler which is similar but I gave it away.

Mr. Lincoln is very tall ;)
