Journalism Careers (Basics)

I’m pursuing a BA in Economics with a minor in English. If I want to write financial columns for a news company, should I pursue a masters degree? And how is the job market for those interested in journalism?

I used to work for a firm that produced financial periodicals. Great office, nice people, salaries starting in the upper twenties.

It’s great work but the salaries are awful. Now, granted, it’s entry level. If you write at the WSJ and are syndicated to other papers you’ll make truck loads of money. However, the people who write for that calibre have been in the business world, successfully, for years and years. People trust their experience.
