Journalism political science or international studies

For a international student from venezuela SAT 1840 - v 650 M 640 W 550-SAT II MI 610 Lit 720 Fr 740 GPA 3.4/4 rank 25/111 lots of extras at musical level, amazing recs which would be a good college to apply to? Because there are several universities that i like but there are out of reach. And the majors that i would like to study are journalism, international studies or political science

you seem like a good fit for the george washington university. they have great international studies and poly sci programs and right in the heart of washington dc.

American University – journalism, IR, poli sci, in DC.

USC – all of the above but in Los Angeles, plus renowned Annenberg Communications school.

You may want to check-out Syracuse University. It offers all three of the majors that you are interested in. Furthermore, many Venezuelans have been students at Syracuse.

I think GWU sounds like good fit for you, too. It’s good on international studies, political science, and journalism, and seems to be good at combining them.

I think American and GWU are probably your best bets. They are very different in the aspects other than academics, though, so you should defiatley visit each. They are both in DC, so that is nice too.

Do u think i’d have any chance in Gtown or Cornell?

Hmmm, those would be BIG reaches…

Northwestern could be your reach school – #1 in the country for Journalism, plus we have a great poli sci dept. and an adjunt int’l studies major as well. A lot of the admissions process depends on essays, so write an awesome essay and you just might get in.

u wouldnt have a chance at cornell or gtown…shoot for gwu or some journalism schools …like…U Missouri - Columbia, Syracuse, etc. good luck.

NYU also has a good journalism program and I’m sure you can double major in IR. I’m not sure about their department but NYU has a lot of internships for the IR field…

Syracuse, GWU, USC, Northwestern

Probably no for Georgetown. I had a 2140 (740 V 720M 680W, 770 US Hist 680 math 2c) with good EC’s, captian of a few sports teams, newspaper club, national honor society treasurer, with solid essays, 3.88 GPA 17/120 and got the boot from G’town. I had a friend who was third in my class get the boot from there. I wanted to major in the same areas as you (or at least I had a vague idea) and applied to GWU and I think it’d be a good fit for you too. The ivy league and G’town are probably out of reach for you, but apply because you never know.

I agree with the people that said GW, it seems like a school that you would be interested in.

Look at Missouri for journalism. It’s more international than you would think. Northwestern is a reach but worth a shot. Look at Syracuse, too. They have a top notch gov’t program at the Maxwell school and the Newhouse school for journalism!!

you could try tufts… one of the top international relations programs
