jr. college people

what are your thoughts about jr. college people?

are they dumb?

No, just a lot of older people that finally realize the value of an education. People that are missing the college experience, or going there over the summer to get ahead and get credits for their universities.

yea bunch of older people with kids or people from other countries, no social life really

I’m taking econ over the summer at jr college (I go to texas A&M fall and spring), and some mof the people there are pretty good students. But they’re also 24-30 yrs old.

I guess there are more older-than-usual folks, but they’re all just people doing the best they can to me. Not everyone has the resources to go to a four year university nor is it practical for everyone to do so.

Quite a few people go to community colleges at a younger age to get ahead, but I suppose you can also find a much older demographic as well. Just because everyone can get accepted does not mean everyone is dumb. There are plenty of intelligent people attending a junior college for financial reasons. That is not to say that there may be a larger percentage of “less competitive” students than say a typical 4 year universtiy.

I went to community college my first two years and then transfered. The reason for it was I took a year off school after high school, had no clue what I wanted to do. It saves a lot of money and there is a mix of younger and older people, but didn’t matter too much. I liked it and didn’t feel like everyone was real dumb, plus the students at community college seemed to care more about their future, then some I have met at a four-year school. The professors at my community college seemed to care more about the individual students then I have noticed now at a four-year. One of my English professors told us that we could email or call anytime in the future after the class was over if we every needed anything in general. I still talk with him through emails. Great way to figure out what the hell you want to do and where you want to go.

The only thing that really sucked for me is that my GPA didn’t transfer and if you did well your first two years it is a downer, but if you screwed up along the way you’ll get to start over new.
