For anybody in the Pacific Northwest, Jason Robert Brown is coming to Portland to perform a concert of his work, along with Shoshanna Bean (Elphaba in Wicked national tour). The concert will be on January 28. Shoshanna Bean is giving a master class for advanced MT students on the next day, the 29th. This is being sponsored by Staged!, a small but great theater company here. Info can be obtained by googling Staged! or checking them out on Facebook. It will be a great send-off for my daughter as we leave for audition trip.

He is doing the same at Casa Manana in Fort Worth, Texas, on February 25, except with a different girl (can’t remember her name.) My info says JRB is leading the master class, and it is the same day, before the concert. My D asked for this as one of her Christmas gifts, so she will be there.

Jason’s concerts are so much fun, especially if he brings his band with him. Your Ds are in for a treat! I hadn’t heard of him doing master classes with high school kids, this must be something new. Usually, he has master class workshops for professional performers, in conjunction with his concerts.

JRB is not doing our master class- its taught by Shoshanna Bean. She is an Oregon native who has been on Broadway/national tours of Wicked and Hairspray. She is supposed to be very witty and a good teacher.

Yes, I saw that you mentioned that, 4inoregon. I know Shoshana. She’s a very talented young woman.
My comment was in reference to musicmom’s post.

alwaysamom - JRB did a master class for one of the theatres my D was involved in here at home when they were doing his musical “13.”
