<p>Reporter Judy Woodruff did yet another review about the poor state of American Education. Generally, I tend to believe that the premise of such “reports” are misplaced because few people who live in middle class (and affluent) communities complain about their schools. Woodruff did examine the difficulties often faced by students from less-affluent communities, including a small town in Ohio. But as I understand it, the best U.S. high school students compare very well to the best from Europe and Asia. It’s just that we have such a large poor performing class of students at the far end of the income spectrum. And that, I believe, is caused at least in part by our problematic popular culture.</p>
